Dear Fearless Follower!
So often we, myself included, can get bogged down in the busyness of life that we miss the important and eternal things that God is doing all around us. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been reflecting and celebrating how God is using each of us to expand His Kingdom through our Fearless Churches.
One story in particular reminded me of the significance of what it means to participate with Jesus in making disciples. At one of our recent baptism services, a young father was sitting with his family when the gospel message was presented. Until that point he wasn’t a follower of Jesus but the Holy Spirit was prompting him to make Jesus his Lord and Savior.
The invitation was given and he waited until the stirring in his soul was so intense he literally jumped from his seat and ran out to get changed. Because of his decision for Jesus, his daughter, at the same service, surrendered her life that day as well.
This didn’t happen in a vacuum, there were lots of people in that service praying and journeying with that family for that moment to occur. A family’s eternity and most likely generations of his descendants will now know Jesus because of the investments of others participating in sharing Jesus. Praise God!
As Christ followers, what we do and how we invest our time and resources from day to day matters. This is happening throughout our ministries, fearless followers listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and intentionally being the hands and feet of Jesus.
As many of you already know, this has been a stretching year financially. I want to thank you for your support of our churches, so many of you have given of yourself so faithfully throughout this ministry year. The Board of Directors and staff are working hard to balance between our clear call to Make Disciples, Develop Leaders and Plant Churches and being financially responsible.
As of June 30, we will be wrapping up our fiscal year and as of the date of this letter we are running about $240,000 behind budget, between all of our churches. Our anticipated expense is projected to be $3.1 million and our current giving trend would target us towards an income number of $2.86 million. Would you prayerfully consider a special fiscal year-end gift? This is a large number but collectively God multiplies the resources!
Hearing and participating in the types of stories noted above is deeply rewarding. There is nothing more exciting than seeing God at work in our world! His transformational power drives a passion in us as Christ followers that is undeniable. Please take some time to review the prayer requests below and celebrate what God is doing in our midst.
God’s Best,
Scott Potter, Executive Pastor
